Jacksonville, Florida Speed Traps
I-295 Overpass right after 103rd Street
One cop stands at the top of the hill and clocks people, while about 5-10 cops or motorcycles are parked just below site on the downward side of the hill. Since there is a guard rail going down all of I-295 except at that point there is plenty of room for cops to hide, and people get the false security that a cop can’t get them.
I-95 North of Downtown
North of downtown Jax to the airport. Either south or northbound. They will trap right outside of downtown, and then they are routinely trapping on bridge overpasses. Enforcement has been very heavy since the first of the year, there is almost always one state trooper every time I go to the airport on the round trip.
I-95 / I-295 Intersection (south of town)
Police units park in the trees in the median at the junction of I-95 and I-295, just south of town, clocking speeders in both directions. Watch the posted limits, as they are low at this junction!
Route 17 just south of Ortega River, heading North
THey are trapping by motorcycle and car from the church parking lot just south of the Ortega River before the Roosevelt Mall. They do it all year long.
Craven Rd, between Sunbeam and Baymeadows, near Beauclerc Elemntary School
This location is between two curves in the road, so it’s east to get caught. Several squad cars will gather in the school parking lot. One officer sets up the radar gun on a tripod, and they catch drivers coming from both directions.
