Heading South after Exit 191 you will see a box trailer along side of the road with the rear door open. Inside is the officer with the radar gun. Just South of them is an area that was previously a rest stop. There will be 6 to 8 cars waiting there for the signal to stop a vehicle.

Croton Road near Wickham Park Soccer Field Entrance

Melbourne, FloridaAug 24, 20070 Comments

Two officers were parked at the entrance of the Wickham Park soccer field. Their patrol cars were pulled away from the road so the unsuspecting motorists would not see them as they approached the soccer field entrance. Both officers were out of the their cars. One used the radar to catch the speed and the other one stopped traffic and pulled over the speeding cars. The posted speedlimit is 35 MPH. However, the road is a straight shot for approximately 1/2 mile, so cars typically speed in this area. It makes for a nice short-cut away from busy Wickham Road and traffic lights. However, as I found out, it’s a great place for a speed trap. As I was sitting there waiting for my ticket, another motorist was pulled over.

Dairy Road near State Highway 192

Melbourne, FloridaAug 22, 20070 Comments

The small portion of Dairy Road connecting Hibiscus Blvd. and State Road 192 is where the West Melbourne PD sets up a Ticket Mill around the end of each month. The speed limit is 35MPH along this stretch of road – officers hide behind a barrier with radar guns trained on southbound traffic. I have seen as many as five people waiting in line to receive traffic tickets at once in a parking lot by State Road 192. Use the cruise set at 35mph and you will not get a ticket in this location. Other portions of Dairy Road are used as entrapment areas as well! Always use the cruise set at the speed limit when you drive anywhere in West Melbourne!

Dairy Road near North of West New Haven Avenue

Melbourne, FloridaAug 16, 20070 Comments

Three enforcement officials were in the parking lot of closed business behind the trees lining the road. One was shooting the radar while the other two were pulling the people over. This was mid-day Saturday. There was no one on the road but me.
