Port Saint Lucie, Florida Speed Traps
Westmorland Ave., South of Port St. Lucie Blvd.
This speed trap operates very often. It is where Westmorland slows from 35 MPH to 30 mph. The exact location is just before the entrance to the Anchorage condominiums. The officer with an electronic speed recapture device (not sure what type) hides behind the natural foliage in the island between opposing lanes of traffic, in the left/U turn lane, and is invisible as the driver approaches. The road is gently sloped downhill, so your speed tends to increase. Then the speed limit drops from 35 to 30 mph. It takes a conscious effort to obey the limit, and I find myself exceeding it unless I use my brakes. There is no time/space to slow down if one is not attentive.
Selvitz Rd. at The Lighthouse Chapel Community Church
PSL’s finest hide by The Lighthouse Chapel Community Church sign enforcing the 30 mph limit. I had last seen them was on “Black Friday”, 11/27/09. The m/c cop was fully hidden, clocking northbound traffic with radar (usually laser), while his buddies, in FOUR squads, wrote everyone up. So you saved $200 waiting in line at the mall 5 AM… and at 5 PM PSL took it away! PSL cops have a penchant for hiding out in church parking areas. They are there at random days/months.
SW Kestor Drive
Motorcycle officer early morning school bus stop enforcement. normally after long school break or near holidays. 30 MPH Posted, very strict but fair, warnings rare.
SE Becker Road
Usually in the mornings two motorcycles and one car, they get you both directions. Sometimes in the afternoons if the weather is good.
Walton Road near Lennard Road
They always sit at the Walton Church and a motorcycle police officer sits across from the church as well. They are always there with radar.
