Punta Gorda, Florida Speed Traps

Road construction for two years.

Burnt Store Road south was 40mph increasing to 55mph.

Now 35mph Tamiami Trail to Zemel Road Approx 6.8 miles.

One lady going 56mph (previous 55mph) fined $476.00 Plus 6 points on driver’s license.

Those never in Punta Gorda must be especially observant as speed drops from 50 to 40 entering PG on Rte 41 from the South. Police are waiting for those who fail to slow down. Out-of-staters especially vulnerable. Oh well, at least the sizeable ticket I got turned me off of the city in a serious way and saved me from making a house purchase in PG.

They get out just about half a mile inside the County Line Southbound.
There is a second one northbound just after you cross Shell Creek

If you speed you will be issued a ticket, if it is warranted. Obey the speed limits, pay attention, stay off the cell phone, and the Punta Gorda Police Department will leave you alone. Also, if you are driving an unsafe vehilce it will also be stopped. Signs are clearly posted!

As you are getting ready to go over the Punta Gorda Bridge northbound the lanes reduce from three to two. Just at the base of the bridge there is usaully a cop sitting there catching people trying to beat the person next to them before the lane is gone. I have seen this happening alot since one of my favorite places to visit is right near this spot.
