301 between 12th and 17th

Sarasota, FloridaJul 22, 20110 Comments

In the last day, officer admitted he has wrote over three booklets of speeding tickets in this area. 301 opens up to 3 lanes in this area, but they have not bothered to increase the speed limit from 35 to 45 as in other 3 lane areas on 301. Definite speed trap!!!

Fruitville and Honore

Sarasota, FloridaMay 16, 20110 Comments

Not a speed trap, but new signs have gone up about not turning on red and no u-turn. Sign is on the medium and not readable if you are watching traffic at the turn. I have been making a u-turn there for 20 years and didn’t see the sign. ($166) Everytime I go past that intersection, someone is getting a ticket. A real money maker for the highway patrol.

Between Bahia Vista and the RR Crossing

Sarasota, FloridaApr 04, 20110 Comments

Sarasota Deputies run Radar and/or Laser Enforcement in this area, especially at the vehicles heading Northbound on Beneva. There’s about a 1-2 mile stretch on Beneva, in this area where the speed limit drops from 40 MPH to 30 MPH!
They’re there especially at night hiding on the grass median!!

West bound on Fruitville Road just before Tuttle

Sarasota, FloridaMar 10, 20110 Comments

Motorcycle police sit in the entrance area to a Jewish Center wih laser guns aimed at Northbound traffic. The speed limit between Lime Ave. and Tuttle is 40 MPH even thought this is a 6 lane divided road. After Tuttle the speed limit increases to 45 MPH. Stay under 45 MPH or you may make an involuntary donation.

Just before Fruitville and Beneva

Sarasota, FloridaMar 09, 20110 Comments

On west bound Fruitville, just before Beneva motorcycle and cruisers like to hide behind the wall at the opening to the community. They hide their vehicles and one of them stands at the end of wall with a laser. Sometimes there can be as many as 6 or 7 cops just waiting.
