Not exactly a speed trap but a trap for people turning right on red lights. Sheriff Deputys hide behind Sams Auto Repair Shop in the church parking lot. Make sure you come to a complete stop and count to ten. My wife has never had a ticket in all of the years of her driving, but about 2 months ago they got her for running a red light. She completely stopped and waited before turning, but they got her anyway, saying she just rolled through the red light. The Deputy did not even offer her a warning and on top of that, he gave her another ticket because she didn’t find her registration card fast enough for him. I am a former Deputy from this county and I am apalled by the behavior of this Deputy and am embarrased for the Department for having such rude and uncaring personnel. So make sure you come to a complete stop before turning right on that red light.

I-75 South, Sarasota County between Clark and 681 connector

On almost a constant basis the FHP uses un-marked crusiers, and they hide in the trees, running both Radar and Laser Guns. I have a Cobra Radar/Laser Detector, which picks up most Laser signals, along with a Phazer II Radar/Laser Scrambler! My Laser detector didn’t even "go off"!!
If you don’t have a Radar/Laser Scrambler, slow down in this area, as you will get caught! I was going about 78 mph, and no problem! Over 80 mph, forget about it! They must be using sophisticated Laser Devices!!

Beneva between Bahia Vista and the railroad tracks

Sarasota, FloridaSep 03, 20102 Comments

The 30mph zone as Beneva passes through Pinecraft extends futher north than necessary to protect the heavy pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the area. An officer will set up on foot near the tracks with his radar gun and a line of cruisers to ticket his prey. Although the four lane road with a raised median looks like it should be at least a 40mph zone it is not.
