Southern Boulevard near Interstate 95

West Palm Beach, FloridaJan 24, 20040 Comments

Between the overpass of Australian Ave & I-95 just after you veer right under the overpass (going eastbound) or coming down the westbound exit of I-95. Two Radar guns and two Cruisers ready to take off. Drivers be careful specially on Sundays when the traffic is light and people trend to go over the limit.

Traffic traviling West over I-95, police radar from the overpass. Usually a motorcycle police officer sits off to the right in a position that you don’t notice or see the person unil you pass through the light just before the overpass.

Speed limit recently reduced to 30mph. Residents are correct in asking for this limit because of high volume and narrow lanes. It IS enforced.

Motor Cycle cop hides behind the trees. Cop jumps out and tickets people every five minutes. You do not have to be speeding to get a speeding ticket. Speed limit too low. The officer is not very nice.

Australian Avenue and East PBIA Entrance

This trap is just before the intersection of Australian and the airport’s east entrance (heading Northbound). Usually Two to three motorcycle cops pull vehicles over under the new overpasses that are currently being constructed at the intersection. The speed limit on Australian is 45 and changes to 35 not long before the trap. If you don’t slow down immediately they’ll get you. What makes this an awful speed trap is that Australian is now a wide open 3 lane highway, plus you are coming off the Southern Blvd overpass. The cops are set up less than 1/4 mile from the first posted 35 mph sign. I work at Australian and Soutern and see this trap multiple times a week. Sometimes four vehicles pulled aside at once.
