Hinesville, Georgia Speed Traps
US Highway Oglethorpe
The cops are now everywere on the main drag in Town. Got pulled over going 56 in a 45 and got a ticket. They are sitting on the side of the highway driving up and down the road. Everyone speeds but the cops just pick one and pull them over and give them a ticket.
Ga Hwy 196/119 @ City Limits
Hinesville Police have started sitting on 196/119 (EG Miles Pky)about 50 yards after you pass the City Limits sign. Car was sitting in a vacant lot under some shade trees on the right side if you are headed east on the highway, not really visable from the road. Speed limit drops from 45 to 40 when you enter the City.
Oglethorpe Hwy
This Highway is a dangerous one! The posted speed is 45mph but traffic usally flows at 55-60 constantly making it easy pickens for the police. The police are sneaky also…they can be seen parked on the side of the road in many areas checking speeds of vehicles as they approach from the front or rear. They usually park so that you can’t see them untill it’s too late and they have no tolerance for speed. I got stopped for going 56 in a 45 and I was going the same speed as 4 other cars with me. I asked the cop why did you pull me over and not them?….he said "Well sir if you had been driving the speed limit one of the others would be the unlucky one getting a ticket."
Deal Street – between Hwy 196 and Main St
Officers often sit along the side of the road in the grass, under a tree, in the lumber store parking lot or wherever. It’s very easy to exceed the 25 mph limit on this good road, but be careful.
