Macon, Georgia Speed Traps
A I-75 passes through Macon, the speed limit drops from 70 MPH to 55 MPH. This is not well marked and traffic continues to travel in excess of the speed limit. Macon police randomly stop cars that are exceeding the speed limit. The officer admitted that he can’t stop everyone and just picks one car out of the group. The Saturday morning I was stopped there were two cruisers taking turns stopping cars.
The local sheriff deputies set up on Bass Rd. between Forsyth Rd. and Zebulon Rd. The one near Zebulon Rd is illegal becuase he is NOT CLEARLY VISIBLE for 500 feet BEFORE he can clock you. This obvious revenue enhancement rather than public safety.
Macon city cops sit under the shade of overhanging trees and around the curve just north of exit 160 on the southbound side of I-75.
I-475 photo radar is used all over the bypass known as I-475. watch your speed they will send you a ticket in the mail.
As you are coming around the corner headed south there is usually a police officer sitting at the 55 mph signs or just behind it waiting to give you a ticket. Usually with the lights off.
