Richmond Hill, Georgia Speed Traps
If you travel south along Hwy 17 entering and leaving Richmond Hill, their favorite place to sit is about 1000 feet south of the intersection of Hwy 144 where Hardee’s and CVS are. They sit in the same spot on the right as you travel south in a vacant lot right after a car wash. This is a 35mph zone and they get their fill of speeders who do not live here. They often sit just a little further down at the bottom of the overpass where the giant flag flies so be careful.
Police will sit in the empty lot near that area and catch people in the 35-mph zone as they leave the intersection!
Officers will sit on the side of the road and catch people as they leave the intersection headed toward the Kroger area.
West bound from the two lane part of Ga 144 … as the road widens into an Interstate type road divided by about a 12 ft wide median, two lanes west and two lanes east bound…at about Timber Trail Rd. the speed limit drops to a rediculous 35 mph all the way to Hwy 17 , over two miles…and there are no drive ways on the right side until you reach the first set of railroad tracks..RHPD sits in the left turn lanes with a turn signal on emulating a left turning vehicle at Cherry St.
Police sit in the nursery parking lot across from the Ford Plaza. They are mainly during the times the school zone is in effect. Very hard to spot don’t speed
