Stone Mountain, Georgia Speed Traps
Parking lot of church before underpass
Police sit on private property parking lot of church. Due to slight dip in road and oversize tree limbs, police sit very obscure and set the trap. They use the other side of the church to write the ticket.
Highway 78 East just before light @ West Park Place Blvd
If you’re heading out Hwy. 78 going east toward Snellville, there’s an overpass as you pass by Stone Mountain itself heading into the commercial area near the Wal-Mart & the old Target store heading towards the East Park Place intersection. As you come up to the overpass, there is a sign that indicates speed is 60, but less than 100 yards later, it changes to 45, DeKalb Police frequently sit at the bottom of that overpass and nail people for speeding. I’ve never gotten a ticket there, but a friend of mine did, and now frequently notice them sitting there, like vultures waiting for the harvest.
Mimosa Drive
Cop will sit in front of Library. If you stop on the rail-road tracks, that is a ticket. If you stop behind the RR tracks, you are blocking the intersection, that is also a ticket. Stop at the white line before the side street, then proceed when the light turns green.
James B Rivers Drive (Old Stone Mtn Dr)
Cop will sit over to the side about half way up hill going toward Memorial Dive/78. As you go down the slight hill coming from Ridge or Forrest you can’t see him due to some leafy trees. He has nailed you with the lazar before you even see him.
Ridge Dr. and Mimosa Dr
Police cruisers park with all lights off at the Old Rock Gym parking lot or at the Curch’s parking lot on the opposite corner to catch you if you don’t make a full stop at that 4-way Stop or if you exceed the posted 25mph limit.
