North Avenue near About a Mile East of Deep Lake

North Avenue has an "s" curve that merges it with State Line Rd. On a recent early Sunday morning, I saw an Antioch police SUV in the trees/grass east of the southern part of the S curve. He was facing eastbound traffic on North Avenue and clearly had nothing else to do at that hour but look for speeders. There is a slight hill on North Avenue there and the speed limit is 45 or 50 MPH, so it was difficult to see him before it was too late. Thankfully my radar detector warned me.

They sit in the VFW parking lot and watch for westbound traffic that comes out of a 55 MPH zone into a 40 MPH. The 40 MPH zone starts very close to the VFW lot, so it can be difficult to slow down before they zap you. They also can face the opposite direction and monitor eastbound traffic. Their radar can pick up your speed through the trees before you see their car. The speed limit in that direction is 30 MPH and picks up to 40 MPH right in front of the lot, so it can be easy to go 40 too soon. I must admit though, I have rarely seen them pull someone over there.
