Gilberts, Illinois Speed Traps

Inbetween Rt. 72 Higgins and Big Timber road on Tyrell there are two spots where the police sit. One is on the west side of the road in the grave yard and the 2nd is just north of the Driving Range on the west side of the road. Speed limit is 45, but being out in the country and it being a straight shot it’s not uncommon to be doing 60

Nearly every Friday night when I’m coming home down Binnie Road, and I turn east on Galligan, I see some poor guy who’s been pulled over by the local cops. I would guess they cruise up and down the length of Galligan between Huntley Rd and 72, but the action really seems to heat up on Galligan between Binnie and Freeman, and often it’s right at the intersection of Galligan and Freeman. People frequently speed on the country roads out here, but Galligan is the only road where I’ve seen so many people pulled over. Be careful on this stretch, especially on Friday nights.

This summer while walking, there was a Gilberts officer in the tall grass area by the model town homes sitting with a radar gun, not in his car, actually on foot. Watch out!

Gilberts cop will sit, usually on the north side of the road, somewhere between the railroad tracks, and the western edge of the Timber Trails subdivison.

Local cops wait on north side of bridge and pop you at the end of overpass where speed drops form 55 to 45.
