Central Road near Ela/Roselle Road

Hoffman Estates, IllinoisMar 18, 20040 Comments

Central Road is a common bypass for Higgins. Golf, or Northwest Tollway when traveling between Barrington and Roselle Roads, and is the entrance point for SBC Ameritech headquarters. The speed limit is 45 mph, but it is common for most motorists to go 70+ since although it is a 2-lane road, traffic is usually nonexistant and there are only 2 intersections along a 4 mile stretch. Between Ela Road and the Forest Preserve entrance, H.E.P.D. SUVs will hide on a dirt/gravel access road and will be impossible to see due to the dense foliage coverage. They will then promptly chase you down and pull you over once the road widens near Roselle going eastbound, or the forest preserve entrance going westbound. Because you are driving parallel to I-90, it is very easy to go with the "flow" of the interstate and thus end up at very high speeds and get nailed going 30 above the limit.

Cop sits in the center median clocking cars going east over the overpass. When you see him it is too late you have been tagged.

Golf and Gannon

On Golf going west after passing Higgins, 2 to 3 squad cars frequently wait for speeders in shopping center next to Arby’s during morning rush hour. There is a little slope so you won’t see them until you are real close.
