Mounds, Illinois Speed Traps

Coming towards Mounds from the west along Olive Branch Rd the posted speed limit suddenly drops from 55 to 35. The area is still rural along a staight two lane county highway, no reason for a sudden decrease to 35 MPH. Mounds police will hide in a driveway just beyond the sign. West bound leaving Mounds the police will often follow motorists across the railroad along Olive Branch Rd expecting them to increase speed as it is farmland west of the tracks. Get followed out of Mounds 3-4 times a week. You will get ticketed going over 35 MPH in this zone.

The police will be awaiting in an area where there is a little curve. They will catch you in the blind spot as you enter this little curve. There will be a few police cars in that area. DO NOT assume that it is over after you spot the first police car. This area is located just a few miles from the State Line with Missouri. If you get caught, do not try to run away and cross into Missouri because there will be constructions ahead of you. September 2009.
