Niles, Illinois Speed Traps

At the intersection of Howard & Caldwell, the Niles Police sit in the Joseph Electronics parking lot at 6643 W. Howard, pretty much across the street from the Tam O’Shanter golf course. This way they are hidden enough from anybody traveling Eastbound on Howard or North/Southbound on Caldwell. Traveling Westbound on Howard they are visible, but once you cross Caldwell speed limit changes from 35 to 30 so you could get nabbed that way. I see them sit one or two cars very often and anytime during the day, but not too sure how persistant they are. This seems to be a regular spot for them to "hang out" at, too.

West side of Howard st. just passed Caldwell ave. They sit in the south parking lot of a factory all times of the day. Usually facing oncoming traffic traveling east on Howard. There’s a bridge and a forest preserve right before you see them and then it’s to late.

Police car is very often in parking lot across from Niles leisure center on Howard St. between Waukegan Rd. and Caldwell Av. Speed limit is 30 MPH there when all around is 35 MPH.

Ol’smokey sits in the parking lot of the Niles Park District Wetlands, about mid-way between Waukegan and Caldwell. There is plenty of trees for cover and it’s even harder to see them at night time. They usually sit facing north so both eastbound and westbound traffic can easily be clocked.

Every time I go east on Howard St, just past Nordica, on the south side of Howard across from Tam Shanter Golf Course, it never fails, night or day I see a Niles police car sitting in the parking lot either just in front of the factory building or by the trees usually facing west, but don’t let that fool u b/c they can catch u going east or west on Howard Ave. Thing is, if u r going west on Howard u will be able to see them but if u r going east on Howard u won’t see them until it’s to late. Just be aware that the speed limit on Howard, East of Caldwell is 30 MPH, the speed limit West of Caldwell is 35 MPH
