Police park in a private drive about half way between Maine Street and State Street on the west side. They can shoot traffic from north and south. They set up several times a week at any time, day or night.
18th Street near Seminary Road
sitting at bottom of Awerkamp overpass on 18th impossible to stay at limit when coming down a 45 degree disent
Koch’s Lane near 12th to 24th Street
City County and State target this area as the street is in a rule setting constantly having speed and safety traps all along this road
State Highway 104 near Scottie’s Skateland
The Illinois State Police like to get drivers who are either leaving town from a 45 mph speed limit and are accelerating to 65 mph or when drivers come into town and the speed zone drops from 65 mph to 45 mph. You have about a tenth of mile when you come into town to reduce your speed. Or as you’re leaving town, people accelerate too fast and get the radar gun before they "leave" the 45 mph zone
Maine Street near Flinn Stadium
The Quincy Police Department likes to sit along Maine Street where the speed limit is 35 mph. What they will do is sit in a parking lot with other cars and "hide." Before you know it, the radar gets you. Another parking lot in the area has high school kids parking their car there and after school the police department gets the kids as they leave the lot after school
