Ullin, Illinois Speed Traps
Make sure you go the speed limit on this stretch – ALWAYS have Waze on! You can literally see a cop hiding on Google Streeview – that’s how often they are in this area – mainly at the bridge just north of Exit 18 (Ullin). Got a ticket here about ten years ago. My daughter got one about five years ago.
Passed through yesterday. Cop is still there in center of the expressway. Unmarked black car. Sometimes he’s located on the back of a hill so just as you’re crossing the top and heading down, he’s got you. Watch the speed limit, sometimes they reduce it to 55 just before the town. Won’t comment on the cops except that they are not user friendly. Fighting the ticket in court won’t work- I tried it ten years ago.
This is definitely a speed trap. Why would a local police officer be lurking on the Interstate considering the Interstate barely touches the municipal boundary of the village he is supposed to be protecting? Wouldn’t this be the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police (or possibly Pulaski County law enforcement)? Do people on the highway in any way represent a clear and present danger to the citizens of that village or is this merely a way of generating income for a middle-of-nowhere village of less than 500 people?
Cop pulling over one after another. Told me he didn’t have time to "explain" what to do with the ticket. My first since 1962. He was impolite and unprofessional. Next time, I’ll go thru Anna. Speed traps are immoral. I plan to fight this in court.
If you have cruise on it doesn’t matter. Got ‘clocked’ at 99mph with cruise set at 75 in a 65. Avoid this area take 55 instead of 57south
