Elkhart, Indiana Speed Traps

I got popped by a Motorcycle cop following me (everyone speeds in this 45 MPH zone to get where they’re going – including Truckers). Had a motorcycle in my rearview for a while, didn’t pay attention, just thought it was a dude on a motorcycle. Got lit up and pulled into a gas station. County officer told me I was doing 62 MPH. I complained, people (even semi trucks) cut you off, won’t let you in to change lanes, I was just going with the flow. He said there is no common courtesy anymore. Gave me a warning. Wrote me a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt. At least I didn’t get points. Saw the same motorcycle officer patrolling same area a week later. Lots of police cars (marked/unmarked) patrol this area.

Sits in nearby parking lots watching for speeding on Cassopolis St, people running red and yellow lights at the intersection of CR6 and Cassopolis and people not making a complete stop pulling out of Walmart exit road on Cassopolis just south of County Road 6.

On the south side of the road, where the NIPSCO has an electrical tower field,
the entry to the facility has an entrance hidden from the road by a slight curve and some bushes. There is often a Sheriff’s vehicle lurking in this spot.

The unit sits in the parking lot of Billings Funeral Home, on the NE corner of the intersection, and behind the office so as not to be seen by south bound traffic.

Just after Middleton Rd., in the parking lot of a restaurant named Miles Lab. Before the restaurant opens the car sits in the parking lot hidden from west bound traffic by the building and from east bound traffic by the road configuration. The mayor of Elkhart has given the order, publicly, to arrest anyone for even one mph over the limit in the city limits.
