I-80, next to (behind, just south of) the Mall of the Bluffs

Council Bluffs, IowaAug 22, 20190 Comments

I have seen all three law enforcement agencies (Council Bluffs PD, Pottawattamie County Sheriffs, Iowa State Patrol) here, on the median. By the time you see them (eastbound) it’s too late, and they’ve nailed you. Excellent hiding place for them, due to the curve in the road. West bound, almost the same story, the speed limit drops down to 10 less than what you were doing on the Interstate, because you’re getting ‘close to town’, and if you’re not paying attention, you will get hammered.

Cameras All Over Council Bluffs, Iowa

Council Bluffs has cameras on all major intersections. Not only do they cite people for not stopping at red lights, but I know of people who have been cited for not using their turn signals.

If you’re south bound, the speed limit drops from 65 to 55 in a very short distance. They sit just south of the final speed limit sign. They are a there almost daily.

Be careful here! The speed limit is heavily enforced.

Just south of the Council Bluffs city limits. Usually one marked Iowa Highway Patrol vehicle, with two others that have no top light bars. They seem to work a ‘gauntlet’ from CB to Glenwood. On occasion, there might even be a ‘bear in the air.’ The speed limit decreases from 70 mph to 55 mph just as you enter Council Bluffs heading north. They’ve been known to get people in this particular area also.
