Fort Dodge, Iowa Speed Traps
West on Highway 7 between Fort Dodge and Manson
This road is worked mostly at intervals in the morning and afternoon to keep the working traffic under control. If you are over the speed limit and are stopped expect to be ticketed even if you are just keeping up with the traffic. The other thing that happens on this road is there is a railroad crossing about 5 miles west of Ft Dodge that has flashing lights on it. If it is flashning, come to a stop. This trap has been used a few times to catch unsuspecting drivers who look both ways, see no train and cruise through the signals. It will cost you nearly $100 for that lesson. I’ve heard of them doing that at various hours of the day. I’m sure they do the same thing at other spots around the state.
