Overland Park, Kansas Speed Traps
The officer sits on the back side of the hill catching people travelling east as they break the top of the hill. You need to do no more than 40 coming down the hill or he will stop you. The limit is 35. On occasion, he will sit on the other side of the hill and nail people travelling west as they break the crest of the hill. He hides behind trees in the church parking lot.
They sit in the church parking lot, especially on weekends, on southwest corner
Most of the time the trap is for west bound on 123rd approaching. Police used to wait to get speeders when speed change from 35 to 25. Now they sit back in the CHurch parking lot on 123rd and lamar and get people who run the 4-way stop.
One officer will stand on the bridge behind the Large sign. out of sight, doing radar. Another will be on the entrance ramp just waiting for the call to come get you.
Traffic going west from Lamar has a steep hill- formerly a school on street, however long gone. Speed limit is still 25MPH on this street and you have to ride the brake down the hill to keep witin the limit. Also, the trap includes Glenwood Street (same conditions on the hill) and eastbound from Metcalf.
