Shawnee, Kansas Speed Traps

The sneaky cops hide under the overpass between the pillars in the median.

Trap is located south of Holday Dr. in the southbound lane. Shawnee Police is normally waiting in the median, behind rock formation. At night almost impossible to see them until its too late.

Shawnee officers will sit under the Maurer Rd bridge and run laser/radar on vehicles coming east or westbound. Speed limit is 55 along this stretch. They will sit blacked out so it’s very hard to see their cars until you’re right up on them.

Shawnee officers will sit under the Shawnee Mission Parkway bridge and run laser/radar on cars traveling north or southbound on K-7. At this location, their vehicles are pretty well hidden, so it’s very difficult to see them during the day or at night. Speed Limit along this stretch is 60 mph.

I’ve seen Shawnee PD "hiding" behind the Stonebridge liquor store on several occaisions. The officer will usually back in by the dumpster. If you’re traveling southbound on Nieman Rd, the officer is easy to spot. I think he is trying to capture people speeding Northbound on Nieman, motorists traveling in that direction wont be able to see the officer. The speed limit is 35, and 25 during school hours. The officers sit there almost constantly (Day and night) Be aware.
