Baton Rouge, Louisiana Speed Traps
State Highway 1248 Bluebonnet Blvd near Burbank Drive
This new extension of Bluebonnet Blvd. (Hwy 1248) between Burbank Dr. and Nicholson Dr. opened up in late October 2004. In passing through a subdivision just south of Burbank Drive, the speed limit is 30mph. This is a 4-lane highway, and the speed limit of 30mph is a joke. It feels as if you are barely moving. Sheriff deputies and state police already have this stretch of highway on their radar list, where they can write plenty of speeding tickets. Once you get past the subdivision, it is a 5-laned highway through open farming land and the speed limit is only 40mph on a straight-section of roadway…another speed trap.
Corporate Boulevard near State Highway Old Hammond
Corporate Blvd. between College Drive and Old Hammond Hwy. is a popular place for Baton Rouge City Police to set up radar. Fairway Drive near State Highway Jefferson
Fairway Drive runs between Jefferson Highway and Old Hammond Hwy. near the Baton Rouge Country Club. For some reason, the rich people who live on this street got the speed limit lowered to 25 mph (only one of about 5 streets in Baton Rouge that have a 25 mph speed limit. This is a major connecting street, and the 25mph is ridiculous. Motorcycle officers with radar can be seen frequently on this street, writing unfair speeding tickets for an unfair speed limit.

Burbank Dr between Jennifer Jean and Nicholson
Many LSU students drive this path in the morning to the Stadium Parking lots. There are several police officers that live in the strip of complex where the street makes a curve. They get up early and pull over anyone speeding. They usually are in groups of 3 or 4 officers on motorcycles, which makes it very easy for them to pull over more than one person at a time. So, slow down in this area, they give out lots of tickets and yes, the officers DO show up for the court date.
