Police sit in private business parking lot. They will stop you if you are 1 mile over the posted speed. Coming into Ferriday, the speed goes from 65mph to 45 mph and this is where they get you! Beware!

Avoid if at all possible the worst place I can imagine for getting tickets. Dont be suprised if u get pulled over for no reason. Make sure your seat belt is on.Here is an example from a nearby towns newspaper Our resources have been spread to the limit due to the large volume of traffic tickets the town is currently writing.

The large ticket volume has led to an increased number of appeals to district court from defendants not happy with being found guilty in Ferriday City Court, Johnson said.

We have also had a steady increase in complaints from people with whom police have come into contact while writing all these tickets, he said. There again, each one of those complaints have to be thoroughly investigated and that naturally ties up our limited resources, he said.

Ferriday has been in the local spotlight for the high number of traffic tickets since Mayor took office two years ago. On some days there are as many as 30 speeding tickets. The department also cites heavily for seat belt violations and other traffic offenses.

West side of town. Speed limit is 45 mphs. I was traveling at 35-37 mph, This speed was because of warnings from other motorist that had been cited when passing thru Ferriday. The patrolman told Me I was traveling at 47 mph. The patrolman refused to let Me see the radar readout, or the documentation of the last radar utits recent calibration.
