Livonia, Louisiana Speed Traps
Hwy 190
Clock you outside of town limits then pull you over in town.
They use a service out of Georgia to take care of fines.
As the lady said, small communities use them so it cannot be classified as a speed trap.
US 190 WB into Livonia (cop hides in car wash)
Usually in Louisiana you can get away with 5 or 10 over the speed limit. I almost got a ticket for going 48 in a 45 mph "road work zone" even though the road work has been finished for almost three months.
A tip to out-of state drivers: Highway 190 might look faster on the map, but stay 5 mph under the speed limit ( In St. Landry and Pointe Coupee parishes they add about 5 mph to the radar) if you don’t want to give $200 to the Pte. Coupee and St. Landry money machines. Same goes for US 71 between Lebeau and US 190.
on Highway 90 about 5 miles east of town
Speed limit is 55, but they say you are going 70 anyway
East of Livonia on Hwy 190
Livonia police are usually hiding behind a house or the small motel. Didn’t see the cop until I had stopped at the Chevron station and was pumping gas. I was ticketed for going 59 in a 55, although other vehicles were obviously traveling upwards of 70mph. I don’t think he radared me at all, but took one look at my nice clothes and nice truck and saw $$$$$$$$$.
Just East of Livonia, between Highway 1 Exit and Livonia
Cop sits in field (100 yards inward) north of the highway on a dirt road kinda by a tractor. After you pass he waits a little, then guns it and catches up with you by the time you are in Livonia. He have me a warning, but not so sure others are as lucky. On my way back home, I saw he had already pulled someone over using the same technique.
