State Route 9 near Boothby Road
If you get off Rt. 1 in Wells and travel Rt. 9 to get to Kennebunkport, Kennebunk Police will stop you in the 25 mph zone near Boothby Road. This zone stretches until the 4 way traffic lights at the intersection with Rt. 35. This is due to the Kennebunk Police officers being either rewarded or punished based on how many cars they stop.
Fletcher/Storer Streets Street near Rotary/Roundabout
Not a speed trap, rather, an obstacle course. Kennebunk Police have been ordered to watch the roundabout and stop any car that crosses the line separating the center of the rotary from the travel lane. This is in keeping with the department’s philosophy to penalize or reward officers based on the amopunt of stops they make. trucks and busses are exempt from the dreaded line crossing violation, as they cannot turn within the radius of the lines.
Cat Mousam Road near State Route 99
As you go over the bridge that crosses interstate 95, Rt 99
turns into Cat Mousam Rd. You do not see the speed change until you cross the bridge. Many times a cruiser is sitting next to the speed sign. You will not have time to adjust your speed.
Rt 35 – Fletcher St between Turnpike and High School
Police constantly travel up and down Fletcher Street regardless of whether or not school is in session.
