Wisteria Drive near State Highway Great Seneca

Germantown, MarylandSep 03, 20040 Comments

This is a very wide 2 lane road that goes by a completely fenced in high school athletic field. The speed limit is 30, which is well below the safe travel speed. The section of road is between Great Seneca Highway and Germantown Road. An apartment complex sits across from the school athletic field and just below the crest of a small hill. Law enforcement park their vehicles in the driveway of the apartment complex and stand on the sidewalk with radar guns pointed at the top of the hill. I live in said apartment complex and see the county police parked there on a somewhat regular basis. Needless to say, I travel this section of road every day and I still find myself going between 40 and 45 mph most of the time (which seems like a more appropriate speed limit).

I-270 southbound between Rte 121 and Rte118 exits

There are 2 traps, both are usually located in the median strip at the base of hills. The first is just after the Rte 121 exit. I’ve seen as many as 6 trooper cars there at one time. The speed reduce from 65 to 55 but most cars haven’t reduced the speed yet. This is a favorite spot, I think they train at this spot. The second is just beyond the Father Hurley exit – not as popular. Traps tend to be midday or PM rush hours when the volume of traffic is lighter as the rush hour traffic is in the other direction.

Officers sit in grassy area in middle of road. During the spring and summer when the tress are in bloom you can’t see them till it is to late. Speed limit is set at 35, fine due to several day cares and schools in area.

Officer’s from Montgomery County’s finest will park their cars/cycles in the grass at the said intersection. By the time that you see them…YOU ARE BUSTED !!!! Speed limit is posted at 35…very easy to hit the low 60’s through there.

Great Seneca Hwy (Rte. 119) Near WSSC plant

Germantown, MarylandMay 01, 20010 Comments

On the bridge over Great Seneca Creek just south of the WSSC plant, County Police will track Northbound AND Southbound traffic trying to catch the "lunchtime commuters" who go home to eat their lunch. If you are more than 0.5 MPH over 55MPH, you will be cited.
