Rockville, Maryland Speed Traps
Nelson Street near Christian Science Church
Watch it coming down Nelson Street from Route 28. Montgomery County/Rockville police sit in the parking lot of the Christian Science church where you cannot see them. The speed limit is 25 mph, but it’s hard to maintain that coming down the hill (and most people don’t even try). Police also bust drivers coming from the other direction. All are pulled into the church parking lot, so the ambush is able to continue. Admittedly, this is a highly residential area including a bike lane, so motorists generally should cool it anyway.
Montrose Road near Interstate 270
Police park in parking lot of St. Elizabeth’s RC church and monitor westbound traffic.
E. Jefferson Street near Rollins Avenue
County police park in parking lot behind Comp USA. Speed enforcement is very frequent, sometimes twice a week or more.
Tower Oaks Blvd.
Going towards Montrose on Tower Oaks blvd from Falls road. After passing the Legato building on the left and entrance to Clydes, there is a small Postal Mailbox at the bottom of the hill. The police officers hide their cars or motorcycels in the drive way and gun from behind the Postal Mailbox. Most of the time they are Motorcycle officers and the shrubs obscures the drivers view of the police officer.
Maryland Ave/Fleet Street/across from police station
People coming over hill toward Rockville, can’t see police because of trees. It’s too late when you can.
Only good thing – I have never seen them in bad weather, always nice and sunny and mostly Sat/Sun mornings. Although they are there others times also. Posted speed 25, seem to allow up to
about 35
