Rockville, Maryland Speed Traps
Wooton Parkway Eastbound between Falls and 7-Locks
Police with radar guns stand in intersecting street hidden behind trees.
W Gude Dr / just W of 355
Cops love to park in the entrance to the Comcast building complex and use the trees as cover to target motorists coming east on W Gude Dr towards 355. Speed limit is 40 but it’s a 4 lane divided road with no cross streets or residences so people routinely drive 50-60+. I work nearby and see this one set up a few times a month at least, usually during the afternoon.
Route 28 between Viers Mill and 355
Cruiser sits in church parking lot obscured by bushes catching cars after overpass. Posted 30 mph but difficult to stay that slow after accelerating to climb overpass. No reason for 30 mph–no pedestrian activity in that location.
Route 28 W (after 270)
There are cops that love to sit there in the median between lanes. If you are coming off 270, going west, there’s a turn that’s kinda blind, and they have been sitting out there (on foot) every morning for about the last 2 weeks, just standing there, and pulling people over. Watch it.
Nelson Street
Police cruiser with no lights hiding under cloak of darkness in Woodley Park rec area parking lot waiting for speeders coming off I-270 and heading towards Rockville using Nelson Road (which turns into Martin Lane at Mannakee St. intersection/light). This was at 2 a.m. recently and I was able to determine the officer was using radar because my radar detector went off.
