Rockville, Maryland Speed Traps
Nelson Street at College Parkway
Sitting parked on College Parkway facing Nelson Street, apparently waiting to catch speeders, although these would have to blow through a 3-wat stop, so whenever anyone is caught it would be a multiple (serious!) moving violation.
Rt 28 (Maryland Av) and just after 270 going to Rockville
sitting on the side of the road, hiding.
Eastbound Wootton Parkway, between Falls Road and Seven Locks Road
Police on foot, with car or motorcycle backup, hide behind bushes and traffic signal box on side street midway between Falls and Seven Locks Road. Trap is designed to "hit" eastbound cars coming over a moderate hill. Posted speed limit is 35…most traffic goes 45-50. Many people caught there.
E. Gude Drive, approximately 2 to 3 lights before reaching Route 355
There is a cop, usually during the evenings that are parked on the right side (on one of the small roads) as you go toward Rt. 355 (i.e. going west). The speed limit is about 40mph, but during the evenings, this road is pretty empty and it is easy to travel faster.
Maryland Ave/Falls Rd eastbound
Trap is located at the bottom of a hill and just after exiting I270. Speed limit drops abruptly from 35mph to 25mph although "reduce speed ahead" sign is present. Trap is approx 100ft after 1st 25mph sign.
