Woodlawn, Maryland Speed Traps
4800 Block Veteran’s Pkwy
I am from Georgia visiting my daughter’s family for Thanksgiving, and Saturday, 3:21pm November 30 I pulled onto this limited access road from another, and was immediately stopped just past the on-ramp for doing 61 in a 45. There was NO speed limit sign between the ramp and where I was stopped. There were 5 or 6 police cars there pulling over people as fast as they could. By the way, I am 66 years old, had 5 family members in the car, and haven’t had a moving violation since Daddy’s funeral 17 years ago. And the officer, needs to learn some manners. I fully understand that an officer must retain control of any situation, but that can be done without being loud, rude and belligerant. When I returned to the house they were not surprised that I had been ticketed; they said PGCounty is known for this.
Security Blvd across from East perimeter dr.
They sit in a parking lot and check drivers going west on Security Blvd after they pass Kernan Drive.
Westbound Security Blvd at Perimeter Drive
Baltimore County Police sit in parking lot at Meadows Business Park Bldg, shooting the westbound traffic on Security Blvd (RT 122), across from Social Security Administration access road. There’s usually 2 unmarked Crown Victorias and a marked unit in the lot. The posted speed limit is 35 mph. They’re usually there every day from approx. 9:45 am to about 3:30 – 4:00 pm. If the policeman steps in the road for you, say thank you for the ticket.
Security Boulevard near Perimeter Drive
Coming from I-70 toward SSA HQ, Baltimore County likes to catch folks going the prevailing speed of 45+ instead of the posted 35. They sit in a parking lot entrance off to the right and get folks as they crest the hill. Just don’t do it! 3 lanes each way, limited access and cross roads, but just don’t speed over that hill.
Interstate 70 near Mile Marker 92
On Interstate 70 eastbound between I-695 and the Security Blvd park and ride State Troopers and Baltimore County Police sit he quite common. The speed limit drops from 65 to 55 at mile 92. It then drops from 55 to 40 and 40 to 25. Very few warnings if any are written.
