Boylston Street, Brookline

Boston, MassachusettsJan 17, 20030 Comments

There’s always a cop, mostly at night times, parked on the other side of the median on Rt.9W/Boylston street outbound from Boston towards Wellesley, just before the Gulf(?) gas station around 900 Boylston street. The road is a bit slopy and the speed limit changes every one mile. The cop stays on the other side of the median on 9E, just next to the median channel so he can quickly swerve around, and catch you on the opposite side while you are merrily going down the slope in the 40 MPH zone.

Bennington St (at Revere town line)

Boston, MassachusettsDec 23, 20020 Comments

Boston Police usually set up at the Suffolk Downs T station to catch commuters (out-of-towners) coming into East Boston. Speed is 30mph but be careful you are usually going much faster. When you come around the corner at the T it is too late they have you. 5-6 cars are usually the norm. Both marked and "low profile" cruisers as well as a few motorcycles.

Be very careful driving the streets of East Boston. The police officers don’t have as much to do as in other parts of Boston, so they concentrate highly on traffic enforcement. And, you don’t have to run a red light or stop sign either.
If you have a headlight out, or a tail lamp out, or brake light not functioning, etc, you will get pulled over in a heartbeat, and cited as such. Be especially careful on Bennington street, in the Wood Island Mbta Station area, as traffic enforcement in that area is especially high, particularly late at night, with traffic coming from Logan Airport.

Huntington Ave. (Mass Ave. bypass tunnel)

Boston, MassachusettsJul 27, 20020 Comments

Motorcycle cops stand at end of tunnel and motion offenders to pull over upon exit. It is an easy trap because it’s very tempting to speed in the usually unenforced tunnel. They also catch you before the road starts slopping up, so you may be going faster without realizing.

Rt 1 southbound

Boston, MassachusettsJun 27, 20020 Comments

As people go down hill into the tunnel at the bottom of the Tobin Bridge ramp which is a 45 zone they do not typically reduce speed to 30 in the tunnel. Those guys will sit inside the mouth of the tunnel on the other side and radar into the tunnel, as if they could single out any one car that way
