Washington Street WEST towards Dedham, on the hill after the High Point Shopping area (Brooks Pharmacy, Dunkin Donuts, Dominoes

Boston, MassachusettsJun 11, 20030 Comments

On my first day off of the year, I drove down this street, which I never take during the day, to go to the store. There were cops all over it, at the bottom of the hill, where the 40 MPH zone changes to a 25 MPH SCHOOL ZONE! They stand there and wave you over to the side. Especially bad when you’re going downhill, toward Dedham.

Rutherford Ave – outbound

Three or four motorcyle cops stand on sidewalk with handheld radar. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for them. You’ll always see two or three cars pulled over. The trap is right beyond the Sovereign Bank just before the Sullivan Square rotary.

New tunnel section connecting the Ted Williams to I-90 (Westbound)

Boston, MassachusettsMar 08, 20030 Comments

This section of tunnel is incorrectly marked as 45 mph; it should be 55 mph. I was caught doing 61 in the "45" by a state trooper standing beside his vehicle in a right-hand curve in the tunnel. No leniency was provided despite my good driving record, excellent road conditions, and the stated fact that I’d just come off an long overseas flight with my wife and we were unfamiliar with the new road and had no reason to believe that section was a 45. That’s state troopers for you!
