New Bedford, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Police car will be parked on either side of the building. Morning or night.
When you take the left Exit 6 ramp off of the MA-140 South (Ashley Blvd./Acushnet Ave.), the speed limit drops to 50 mph. About 1/2 mile later, before the Dunkin Donuts, it drops to 35 mph. The sign that tells you the reduced speed is only a very short distance from the actual 35 mph sign. Since it curves slightly to the right at that point, it is a perfect spot for a New Bedford cop to sit with his laser. They have you before you even see them. It is not uncommon to see 3 to 4 cars pulled over at the same time.
Unmarked State Trooper with cruiser partially blocked by guard-rail, sitting in car with drivers door open, with radar gun.
Police with radar gun stopping traffic going east on Rt 6.
The New Bedford Police Officer or the Trooper parks the car on the grass between the ramp and Rt 18 South. The speed limit is 50 mph and they will nail you for going 51.
