Whitman, Massachusetts Speed Traps
312 Bedford Street (Steward Medical Building)
This is more of an “inspection sticker grab point.” I observed three (3) vehicles pulled over travelling South on Rt. 18 (Bedford Street) just today. The trap here is to grab drivers with overdue / expired inspection stickers. Black SUV cruiser sits behind hedges at the entrance to Steward Medical. High hedges hide the cruiser from those travelling SOUTH on 18. There is a hiding spot just further south and on the opposite side to catch drivers travelling north.
c. 596 Auburn Street (Rt. 14). D.P.W. “pump house”
Whitman P.D. unit backs into this Whitman D.P.W. “shed” driveway. Speed enforcement on all shifts as well as the usual Whitman M.G.L., Chapter 90 grabs (i.e. inspection stickers, plate reg. decals and front license tag compliance, etc.)
Washinton Street, Victoria Drive
Cop sits behind fence ON Victoria Dive and shoots radar to catch motorists heading NORTH on Washington Street and toward Whitman center (20 MPH zone). Usually present on 8 AM to 4 PM shift, with increased radar patrol activity between 11 AM and 3 PM. Also reported as inspection sticker snag point.
Commercial and Stetson Streets
SUV traffic unit sits on Stetson (entrance to Whitman housing) and shoots radar in westerly direction to grab motorists heading EAST on Commercial Street. Unit is there on random weekdays (8-4 shift). Be advised, also an inspection sticker “snag point.”
Raynor Avenue
SUV radar / inspection sticker traffic unit sits and has been spotted between 8 AM and 4 PM on east and west side streets of Raynor Avenue. Cherry, Lazel and Whidden have seen most activity.
