Sterns Road near between Summit and Suder Road

Erie, MichiganApr 07, 20080 Comments

The cop sits in a black unmarked car on a little side street (would be right side of road if you were coming from Summit, right after you come over the bridge)on Sterns Rd. The speed limit drops from I believe 40 or 45 down to 25 with very little warning. The cop sits there and can see traffic heading up and down the bridge and it usually too late by the time you see him. He likes to be out there more at dusk and late at night when it is almost impossible to see him. I have seen lots of people get pulled over right there.

Sterns Road near Suder Avenue

Crossing over Suder ave on Sterns it drops without warning from 55 to 25 MPH – until you get halfway up the vidock where it goes back up to 45 mph. City cops (Erie) love to hide and then nail you the full limit over. They say it’s because it’s a resedential area- don’t blink – you may miss the 4 houses that are there! Just a way to line their pockets!

Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 3

Erie, MichiganOct 19, 20070 Comments

Erie Township Police like to sit in the median of I-75 around MM 3. Southbound traffic are usually the target as they come over the bridge over Bay Creek Road. Police are visible – but usually too late to do anything since you are pretty much toast.

Summit St Street near Ottawa River Rd Road

Erie, MichiganOct 16, 20070 Comments

It’s a stretch of road between Ottawa River Rd and I-75. You easily build up speed to enter I-75 or you are exiting the freeway that has a speed limit of 70 mph. That strip of road has a speed limit of 35 & 45 mph.

Summit St., south of I-75

Erie, MichiganNov 19, 20030 Comments

Be cautious traveling Summit Street between I-75 and the Ohio/Michigan State Line. This pockmarked 4 lane divided highway is posted at 45 MPH, but it is easy to travel 55-60 MPH on this stretch, especially heading southbound from I-75. It is commonly confused for being 55 MPH. I was nailed for 5 over the speed limit which equals an $100.00 ticket!!! Go 45, not one bit faster!
