There can be a marked or unmarked police car that sits in Idependance Hills subdivision on Old Homestead Dr. Which is East off Drake between Grand River and Eleven Mile. You can not usually see the cop car until it is too late, so use caution especially if you are going northbound on drake and you are picking up speed coming down the hill.
State Highway M5 near Grand River Avenue
Where M5 ends and becomes Grand River Ave., the speed limit changes quickly from 65 MPH to 45 MPH. Farmington Hills police will sit in unmarked vehicles either just past the 45 MPH Speed Limit sign off on the shoulder, and will often team up with another officer who is sitting in an empty parking lot just past the M5/Grand River merge. (Cop 1 will record your speed and radio ahead to Cop 2 who is waiting the parking lot to nab you)
Due to a Farmington Hills quota system, enforcement may vary. Most times you’ll get nabbed for 10 over, but people have gotten nailed here for as little as 5 over, depending on the time of the month.
