Jackson, Michigan Speed Traps

The ENTIRE area between Jackson, MI and Marshall, MI with special caution during the morning and evening rush. Notable area’s include;
-Elm St. exit heading I-94 West in Jackson(immediately after 70mph to 55mph drop zone) Primarily during morning traffic.
-Any exit between Airport Rd in Jackson, to the first Albion exit. Heading any direction.
-29Mi road exit, heading Eastbound, I-94 (2nd Albion exit) right after bridge.

Entrance ramp to interstate 94 at mile maker 127. The police officer sets in the grass totally out of site of those on the freeway from both sides of the freeway. He can shoot the top of trucks because that is all he can see from is point of view or trucks and cars from the back. He is totally undectectable.

This isn’t a specific trap, but lately off-duty police officers that are on this stretch of I-94 have been calling in reports of "speeders" and "unsafe drivers." They don’t usually pull you over, but I know of two such cases where Michigan State Troopers have gone to the homes of the people registered to the cars that were called in to give them citations. Don’t know the legality of this all yet, the cases have yet to be resolved. This is just a warning to be careful in this area, you never know who is on your team, so proceed with caution!

I-94 runs East&West through Jackson mi. The state speed limit is posted at 70mph, til you get to city limits, where it slows to 55mph.
Cooper St. is apx. half way into this 55mph zone from either direction. at the bottom of a hill from both sides. It makes it tough to slow down in time. They know this as well as i do.. That is why you are most likly to get a ticket in this area of Jackson..
Tip. Slow Down to posted speeds.

Speed limit through here is only 30mph. If you are going east on Springport Rd the speed limit is 45mph and then suddenly drops to 30. There is a reduce speed sign but not enough distance to slow down without hitting your brakes. If you are heading west on Springport Rd from Shirley Dr then there is one speed limit sign right before the bridge over 127. The cops like to either sit in the church driveway on the south side of Springport Rd or down on Holiday Inn Dr. This area is enforced by Blackman Township and also by the State Police. This township and city is about the worse it gets. Blackman township increased their citations by 4000+ in 2000 to 11000+ in 2001. This city and township are about the money. Keep your eyes open and closely follow the speed limit signs.
