Eureka Road near 0-1 mile east of 275 in grass

Romulus, MichiganJun 20, 20070 Comments

They hide anywhere along this 1 mile stretch – usually in the grass with their radar gun pointing into traffic. Speed limit is only 45mph but traffic travels very smoothly about 55mph. It’s a straight shot along the airport with very few distractions, so it’s Very easy to find yourself driving too fast. I took my ticket to court and the line was Full of people with a tickets from the same spot. Romulus has some conscience and will reduce the tickets to eliminate the points, but they want their money!

Interstate 94 near Metro Airport Stretch

Romulus, MichiganJun 06, 20071 Comments

The Speedtrap begins going west bound on I-94 going through the Metro Airport Exits (Merriman and Middlebelt). Right after the airport entrances merge onto I-94 you see two police cars on the left hand shoulder. Sometimes the police car behind will have its lights on to make it look like they have the car pulled over in front of him. The behind car is a noticible police car, the front car is an unmarked gold police car. Right after seeing these two cars on the shoulder you will see a gold Blazer on the Vining Road bridge on the shoulder of the bridge with its passenger window open. I’ve never seen them pull anyone over around here so I don’t know what direction they are monitoring speed. I can only assume eastbound, but I wouldn’t push it if you are going west bound. If you are east bound headed for Detroit, make sure you slow down to 70 right after the I-275 and Wayne Rd exits. Whenever I see the Blazer on the viadock I make sure to wave my hand out the window. Honestly I have only seen this about three times now, but I’m sure this is a huge revenue "earner". I am not sure whether this is local or state police… Just be cautious on any Michigan Road, freeway, highway, what have you. State and local municipalities are having the same economic struggles we are going through. So the pass the burden onto us :(… Go to court, most likely they’ll drop the points if you agree to give them more money towards their department for getting you for impeding traffic ($140-$200). Thank-you and be safe.

A City of Romulus Police officer is parked in an unmarked, light brown, older model Chevy Blazer on the Pennsylvania Road overpass of I-275 (approx. Mile Marker 14). He is parked so that Northbound I-275 traffic cannot see him. He shoots a Laser gun from behind the Northbound I-275 traffic passing below him, aiming at rear license plates. Marked chase cars wait in the median about a quarter mile north of his location.
