Roseville, Michigan Speed Traps
Eastbound I-696 ramp to 11 Mile Road
Expressway speed is 55 mph, which would include ramp. As ramp dumps onto 11 Mile Road the speed immediately drops to 35 mph. To be fair, there is a warning sign on the ramp indicating the reduced speed but the new speed limit occurs too quickly and starts about a quarter mile before a residential area. Saw 3 tickets issued in ten minutes on the last day of October, ’02.
Hayes Rd. between 10 Mile Rd. and I-696 Service Dr.
This whole stretch of Hayes is a notorious speed trap. Speed limit is posted at 25 mph, but most people drive this at 35 mph or so. Police have been known to park in residents’ driveways along this stretch in order to hide. Also, being polite and honest won’t help you here, either. The officer will still write you a ticket with glee. This is a major revenue spot for Roseville. Some good advice — drive at 20 mph or below here!
Hayes Rd., Between 10 Mile and 696 Freeway
This is a two lane road w/houses on both sides. However, it is usually busy because people use it to get to and from I-696. Posted speed limit is 25 MPH – strictly enforced! Motorcycle police hide up on the sidewalk…very sneaky!
Gratiot between 10 Mile to 12 Mile
Friday, Sat & Sun – Spring/Summer Dont get caught cruising at night, if you make that third lap around youre likely to get pulled over if 5-0 notices
you.
Northound hayes road just south of 12 1/a mile road
This has to be Roseville’s favorite trap. Hayes road is a 4 lane road here divided by a grassy median. If you are going Northbound on hayes passing through the light at 12 mile road, you will pass a skating rink on your right side, and then some self storage units on your right side. You best be doing 35 mph or under here. Just ahead on the right side after the storage unit place is a small factory of some sort and there will be a cop waiting right there timing the traffic going northbound only. It is very, very easy to do 45 mph on this road, and that will get you a visit from Roseville’s finest.
