Tecumseh, Michigan Speed Traps

As you are leaving Tecumseh, heading East the road goes down hill where you will see the mill on the North side of the road and the Water department on the South. Just past the mill on the left there is a grassy area where the police like to back into and check speeds of those going in either direction. Usually this is during the morning hours before dawn. One thing I will tell you to add to the other traps listed for Tecumseh, if you are driving in town between 2-4 a.m. they will be watching you close because the bars let out at that time. I go to work at these times and it’s not uncommon for them to follow you, run your plate and pull you over if they think they have a reason.

On race days at Michigan International Speedway, Tecumseh City Police officers man vantage points on rooftops thru out Downtown Tecumseh, along M-50. They radio speeding and other information to awaiting patrol cars.

Police Sit in the parking lot of an old barber shop on the East side of the road facing North. They are there early in the AM usually about 0500-0530.

The Police sit completely off the roadway on the South side of the Hwy. They sit under and behind a row of trees on land that is owned by the city. They are usually there early in the AM around 0500-0530. They are sporadic in the days of the week / month. Just when your guard is down they seem to appear again.

This highway is so heavyly partrolled that I think the cops would need a map to find half of the other streets in town, or maybe they forgot there is a town built around this main street. This is a small town approx pop.8000, small force, two to three cars partrolling at a time. Watch it during race weekends, a lot of traffic flows though town to Michigan International Speedway, partrols are increased. Also all police cars are white, plus they partrol with a white Chevy Tahoe.
