Minnetonka, Minnesota Speed Traps

The area I am talking about is right at Burwell school. The police like to sit right next to a parking lot that you can enter for the school (the lot is just off of Plymouth Rd). This is an especially effective place for the police during the night hours when they can shut their lights off and you can hardly see them. I have never been caught in this area since I live nearby and know about it but I see them sitting in that spot a decent amount so watch out. Actually, Plymouth Rd. in general is a bad place to speed on as there is a lot of police that use this stretch of road. The first ticket I ever got was going south on Plymouth Rd. shortly after crossing the bridge near Cedar Lake Rd…. I took that wide curve that is right after the bridge and I got nabbed for a ticket. I was sick aftr baseball practice and I was 16 years old and trying to get home. So much for an understanding police officer.

Police patrolled on Hwy.62 in Minnetonka. Police circle around the same stretch of road at a constant pace. Speed limit on the road is 45 mph.

I live in Minnetonka and I have seen this many times. The speed trap is used by the Minnetonka PD and State Patrol. The police squad will take the Valley View turn off from Eastbound 494, drive half way up and drive down the grass facing downward at traffic pointing straight at 494. The squad is always in plain site but believe me, you ask your self after you pass how you didn�t see him. I have seen in the last 2 years this set up I talk about at least 40 times, so watch out!

2-3 squad cars, they check your speed when your comming down hill only taging cars that are heading south on Plymouth road. They wave you onto March Circle to give you your ticket.

I just saw this trap today for the first time (5/30/03). Anyway on this stretch of stone rd the speed limit is 25 mph and it goes under 494 and parallels some railroad tracks. Anyway i saw this cop in the afternoon i was heading towards Oakland Rd. Anyway the way i was going takes you threw a neighborhood then if you get on stone rd which also goes threw the neighborhood and you are heading towards Oakland Rd. You end up taking a sharp corner after you are out of the neighborhoood and after you pass wellington rd. Alright now after this sharp corner i happened to notice the cop sitting their and thank God there was a lady about 100 yards down the road who got caught because i was going well over the speed limit and i saw the cop and the car then the road dipped and i lost my visual with both cars then once i regained my visual i saw this lady had gotten pulled over. It is also very hard to spot the cop heading in the other direction (from oakland rd.) because the road has a couple of sharp corners with lots of trees before it streightens out and goes under the 494 bridge hope i didnt confuse anybody good luck.
