New Hope, Minnesota Speed Traps
North of 42nd Ave and Winnetka Ave.
The Police Department is located right behind this mall, a couple of blocks to the north and west; police must pass through here all the time. The speed limit goes down to 30 mph. I know I wasn’t speeding, because I had seconds before come out of the mall parking lot and was almost immediately stopped and told I was speeding, by a police officer, who rushed through the ticketing process and would not answer any questions. I wanted to challenge the ticket and appeared at the court house at my scheduled time, but found that I would have to return and did not have the time. Furthermore, the city has a deal that if you pay an additional $75. on top of the $150 ticket fee, they will “waive” the reporting of the ticket. This money goes to the city of New Hope. I wondered how much the city made on this deal.
