Plymouth, Minnesota Speed Traps
494 and Hwy. 55 –
The cops start at the intersection of 94 E & 494 S…They trap you from 94 to Rockford Road & 55 along the 494 stretch. Someone clocks you from the other side and then they have cops waiting southbound to nab you…They’ve been known to do this for mulitple hours at a time – it recently happened between 9 a.m. into the afternoon – even after 1 p.m.
Northbound hwy 169 at County Rd 9
They like to sit on the clover leaf northbound entrance with a radar. They are usually there at night between 10pm and 3am. I have seen them on all different nights of the week and weekend.
At Medicine Lake Rd. Exit from Northbound U.S. Hwy. 169
The Plymouth police park way up on the hill before Medicine Lake Rd. bridge in the total darkness. They get you on radar as you come over the hill after Plymouth Rd going north and even when looking for them, you can’t see them until the actual ramp starts to leave U.S. Hwy. 169 & then it’s way too late. They are usually there late at night, after 1-2am.
Interstate 494 near US Highway 55
On the off of Hwy 55, turning on 494 South ramp. They will occasionally have cops sitting there on foot and in their cars around mid day once a month. They will pull you over randomly and ticket you for speeding and whatever else they find. This happens around noon to 3pm..
Interstate 494 near State Highway 6
The Plymouth Police sit just north of the highway 6 overpass where the entrance ramp from highway 6 joins 494 and monitor north bound traffic. You will see a bare patch worn there as the do it often. By the time you see that it’s a police car, it’s too late.
