Heading East on Bass Lake Road and Jonquil Lane N near Hemlock

Plymouth, MinnesotaSep 06, 20020 Comments

Heading East at around 10:30am in morning Plymouth PD with a handheld laser got me at 53mph in a 40mph zone. The speed changes to 45 about 500 feet down the road and then to 50 a further 500 feet or so. The cop got me at 550 feet. The Passport 8500 got the laser as soon as he activated but too late by that time. Hit the brakes and slowed down to just over 40. He would have seen me slam on the brakes. My own fault, angry at having to go the office to pick something I left behind up and I forgot the speed limit and didn’t see the sign, which was there. Interestingly, Plymouth is one of the only cities in Hennepin County that charges more for a continuance for dismissal than the actual fine itself ($200 instead of $120). Plymouth PD have also placed a K-band roadside speedsign for several days in this area in an effort to slow people down.

494 at Co Rd 6

Police will usually pick-up north bound traffic. Their will be a number of chase cars with one nailing speeders as they head north. They are more regularly sitting on the on-ramp going north and pick you up as you come into view under the overpass. I have also seen them standing on the bride deck with radar guns.

Bass Lake near hemlock lane

Plymouth, MinnesotaMar 01, 20020 Comments

When going east on basslake road east of 494 you’ll just past northwest blvd, the road will go into a slight curve and just around the curve a plymouth squad car without roof lights will sit on the sidewalk and clock cars as they come around the corner. Or when going west on basslake road west of 169, you’ll come around a right hand curve after passing a golf course on the right hand side of the road, the curve ahead is where the cop sits, same car on most days.
