Interstate 494 Northbound near State Highway 6

Plymouth, MinnesotaMay 25, 20070 Comments

As you drive north on I-494 approaching County Hwy 6 in Plymouth, there is very often a Plymouth Police Officer running a trap at the end of the on ramp, from Hwy 6 onto I-494. There is a downhill slope approaching this area, and as you near the overpass of Hwy 6, you are suddenly exposed to him (from behind the overpass) on the right side of the road, where the traffic from Hwy 6 merges to I-494. The posted limit there is 60mph, however, they seem to let traffic blow by regularly at nearly ten over the limit.

State Highway 55 near Peony N Lane

Plymouth PD uses marked and unmarked squads in this location. Officers have become "friends" with the citizen who lives at this location, as they park perpendicular to Hwy 55 on the north side of the Hwy in the citizens gravel driveway. Then monitor westbound traffic as they proceed down the grade just west of Rockford Rd. Often times one officer runs a LIDAR (Laser) gun then radios to additional chase cars that are parked west of the location up towards Peony Lane N. Heaviest enforcement seems to be in the AM hours, as Wayzata High students head towards school. However, officers have been seen at this location at all hours.

Possibly Lidar as the police was out of the car and watching the road where his visibility stretches north about 2000 feet stopping at the top of a hill.

They wait behind the County Road 6 bridge and pick off cars. Depending on the time of the day…2-4 officers.

36th Ave. N. between Hwy.169 and Zachary Lane

There are 2 schools on this stretch of Road. For 22 years I have seen cops hiding in parking lots, driveways, behind the west wing of the Jr. High School and on Lancaster Ln., aggressively enforcing the 30 mpg limit at any time, even for only a few miles over the limit when there is noone else on this 3/4 mile stretch of open road.
