Bruce R Watkins Pkwy/71 Hwy near 27th street

Cop will be pulled in tight to the right side retaining wall and you can’t see him as you come around the bend until you’re right on top of him. Speed limit there is lower than you think!

I-35 between MO 210 & I-35/I-29 split

Kansas City, MissouriAug 01, 20010 Comments

One of the few places in the metro where the 55 mph limit has survived on a major Interstate. Three lanes in each direction and traffic generally moves at 65 mph +. Got smacked for 72 mph by the KCMO PD and have seen much activity since at various times of the day. I didn’t have the time/patience to go to court, so got my lawyer to plead it to defective equipment. No points or insurance surcharges, but what a lucrative scam for the City and defense lawyers.

I-435 between Holmes and the Grandview Triangle

Kansas City, MissouriApr 01, 20010 Comments

There are several gradual wide open hills in this area (3-4 lanes each way) which is a great spot for laser. I got caught for 86 in a 65 zone with very light traffic. The cops were very proud of the fact that their laser gun defeated my non-laser V1 detector. I haven’t seen much enforcement during morning and evening rush hour, this happened at around 11AM.

31st/ Hardesty/Van Brunt/Linwood

Kansas City, MissouriJan 01, 20010 Comments

Ok, this is a traffic officers dream. They will attempt to get you coming westbound on US 40(converts to 31st), and on Van Brunt North Bound. Also police readily will attempt to issue illegal turns. Watch out. DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE ARROWS MARKED ON THE STREET when going southbound on Van Brunt. The arrows say you may go straight on the far right lane pass Linwood. However, there is an obscure sign posted that says you can’t police love issuing this bogus ticket.

71 Highway South at Meyer Blvd

Kansas City, MissouriSep 01, 20000 Comments

Coming around the curve near Meyer on 71 South…cops beneath the railroad trestle where you can’t see them. Also very rude and threatening. I was threatened with jail merely for politely asking to see the radar reading. Speed limit there is 45, but 55 just a few blocks further down the road.
