Manchester, Missouri Speed Traps

Police cars sit on a small spur that closely parallels Carman Road and point radar down Carman Road which enables them to catch both eastbound traffic that has turned onto Carman from Highway 141 and westbound traffic that is approaching Highway 141 on Carman Road.

I often drive home around 2 am going East on Manchester Rd. coming from apartments just East of 141 and there are usually two cars one on either side of the road shooting radar. The speed limit is 45, but often a lot of people speed at that time of night because of low traffic. Some of the speed limit signs have recently been changed to 40, as well.

If you are traveling north or south on 141, there are police shooting radar and pulling people over every day of the week, any time of day. Usually just before or just after Manchester.

The amount of revenue generated for the city must be huge!

The Manchester Police set up radar on Rt 141 Woods Mill Rd), just south of Manchester Rd. East of Manchester Rd on 141 is a hill. So, police clock south bound drivers as they are near the bottom of the hill–when their speed is at it’s maximum. They also set up radar on the east side for east bound drivers. Again, you are clocked as you reach the bottom of a hill when your speed is at the maximim. The speed limit here is 45 MPH. I can’t believe that meets the 85 percentile "rule of thumb’. Police can regularly be found there …but particulaly during the last 3 or 4 days of any month as they are, obviously, trying to boost revenue and make their budget. Further, I suspect that over 90% of speeding tickets written within Manchester City limits are written in this stretch and that the revenue from speeding tickets has grown exponentially since this 141 overpass has been completed (around 1999).

Officers regularly run radar on Hwy 141 anywhere from Brittany Parkway to Howard George Dr. in northbound and southbound directions.
