Sikeston, Missouri Speed Traps
Highway 60 just west of Interstate 55
The police heavily patrol this stretch of Highway 60 just west of Interstate 55. Interstate 57 ends at I-55 and becomes Highway 60 as soon as you cross I-55 going westbound. The speed limit decreases as well. Some drivers forget they are no longer on the Interstate so the police are ready to write a ticket if you are still driving at Interstate speed.
Ingram Street near Kennedy Street
Entering Sikeston on Ingram, Southbound, approaching Kennedy. The speed limit drops from 45 to 35. But the sign is attached to a large diameter, light-colored street lamp pole . . . making it blend-in and hard to notice. I’ve never seen a speed limit sign that wasn’t displayed on a 4×4 wood post. I was stopped doing 48 in a 35 because I thought I was still in a 45 zone. Officer Malone understood and let me off with a warning . . . Thanks !
